Tiny Valentine Treat in One HourTiny Valentine Treat in One Hour

This little treat is just the right size to hang by your door.
It is a cheery greeting for everyone!

Supplies:

pinking shears
red and white fabric scraps about 8" x 10" square
plaid scraps
fusible backing (found in most fabric stores)
thread, batting

Instructions:

  • Cut red square 8" wide x 10" long
  • Cut (with pinking shears) white heart approximately 7" long and 5" wide at widest part
  • Cut (with pinking shears) red plaid heart approximately 6" long and 4" wide at widest part
  • Following the instructions on the package, fuse red heart to white heart, pressing  and centering carefully. 
  • Let fabric cool.
  • Next, fuse white heart to red square, centering carefully.
  • Cut border pieces 1 1/2" wide and 10" long for sides. 
  • Sew to left and right sides of red square.
  • Cut top and bottom pieces 1 1/2" wide by width of square including side borders. 
  • Sew to top and bottom of red square.
  • Cut backing and batting same size as your front. 
  • Layer, front right side up. 
  • Backing right side facing hearts and batting.
  • Sew around entire outer edge using 1/4" seam allowances. 
  • Leave 4" opening to turn and press.
  • Sew opening closed. 
  • Stitch along inner edges of borders to define your hearts and there you go. 
  • Embellish with ribbon roses, buttons, trim, whatever you may have in your stash.
