Crocheted Bumpy Afghan

Materials:

Worsted weight yarn Approximately:
Color A - (Tan) 40 ounces (2265 yards) [1140 grams]
Color B - (Teal) 27 ounces (1525 yards) [770 grams]
Color C - (Berry) 19 ounces (1070 yards) [540 grams]
Crochet Hook size N (9.00 mm) or size needed for gauge

NOTE: Each row is worked across length of Afghan holding 2 strands on yarn together. When joining yarn and finishing off, leave a 9" (22.5 cm) end to be worked into fringe.

GAUGE: 8 dc = 4" and 4 rows = 2 1/2"

With color A, ch 127 LOOSELY

Row 1 (Right side): Dc in back ridge of 4th ch from hook and in each ch across; finish off: 125 sts.

NOTE: Loop a short piece of yarn around any stitch to mark last row as RIGHT side.

To Work 5-dc Cluster: *YO, insert hook in dc indicated, YO and pull up a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops on hook; repeat from * 4 times more, YO and draw through all 6 loops on hook.

Row 2: With WRONG side facing, join Color B with sc in first dc; sc in next dc, work 5-dc cluster in next dc, (sc in next 3 dc, work 5-dc cluster in next dc) across to last 2 sts, sc in last 2 sts; finish off: 31 5-dc clusters.

Row 3: With RIGHT side facin, join Color A with slip st in first sc; ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), dc in next sc and in eash st across; finish off: 125 dc.

To work 3-dc Cluster: *YO, insert hook in dc indicated, YO and pull up a loop, YO and draw through 2 loops an hook; repeat from * 2 times more, YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

Row 4: With WRONG side facing, join Color C with sc in first dc; (sc in next 3 dc, work 3-dc cluster in next dc) across to last 4 dc, sc in last 4 dc; finish off: 30 3-dc Clusters.

Row 5: With RIGHT side facing, join Color A with slip st in first sc; ch 3, dc in next sc and in each st across; finish off: 125 dc.

Row 6: With WRONG side facing, Join Color B with sc in first dc; sc in next dc, work 5-dc cluster in next dc, (sc in next 3 dc, work 5-dc cluster in next dc) across to last 2 sts, sc in last 2 sts; finish off: 31 5-dc clusters.

Row 7: With RIGHT side facing, join Color A with slip st in first sc; ch 3, dc in next sc and in each st across; finish off: 125 dc.

Rows 8-75: Repeat Rows 4-7, 17 times.

Using a total of seven 18" (45 cm) strands of Color A and corresponding stripe color yarn held together, add fringe (for a total of 16 fringe ends) in each cluster row across short edges of Afghan.
